Tekashi 6ix9ine faces life in prison on racketeering and armed robbery charges

Tekashi 6ix9ine, real name Daniel Hernandez, currently faces a maximum life sentence in prison.

The rapper faces a mandatory minimum of 32 years, according to the prosecuting U.S. attorney in the case.

Hernandez was arrested on Sunday night and faces federal charges including racketeering allegations which stem from his involvement with the Nine Trey Bloods and an armed robbery which was previously unreported.

Lance Lazzaro, Tekashi 6ix9ine’s attorney, advocated for bail for his client, which would require the rapper pay a $1 million bail sum, be placed under house arrest and surrender his passport.

The judge denied the request for bail, citing that even if those conditions were met, Hernandez still posed a danger to the community and should remain under custody.

During the rapper’s arraignment, which took place on Monday, assistant US attorney Michael Longyear said: “[Hernandez] is a member of a violent sect of the Bloods, this defendant participated in multiple acts of violence.”

A racket is a planned or organised criminal act, usually in the form of business, to repeatedly extort money illegally.

According to TMZ, the most serious charge the rapper faces is discharging a firearm while committing a crime – making him eligible for a life sentence.
