Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig collaborates with James Corden

James Corden and Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig have joined forces to record a track for the forthcoming Peter Rabbit movie.

‘I Promise You’ is surprisingly Vampire Weekend-esque with a light afrobeat influence and features the vocal talents of Corden, although the track itself was penned by Koenig and the film’s director Will Gluck.

The live-action adaptation of the Beatrix Potter classic was released in US cinemas today and also features the voices of Sia and Margot Robbie.

Meanwhile, it’s looking likely that Vampire Weekend themselves will be making an imminent return following a five-year album hiatus. The band last week confirmed a headline appearance at September’s End of the Road Festival, and Koenig as far back as last year has dropped hints that a forthcoming record is nearly completed, commenting on Twitter to one fan that it was “80% done but the last 20% is always the hardest“.
