Walk Off the Earth are holding a tribute concert for the late Mike ‘Beard Guy’ Taylor

Walk Off the Earth pay tribute to their late keyboardist and vocalist, Mike Taylor, with a public memorial concert on Sunday.

The Ontario-based group, who shot to fame by posting creative covers of popular songs on Youtube, say they want to  “celebrate Taylor’s life and legacy” following on from the musician, often known as ‘Beard Guy‘, died suddenly on 30th December of last year.

The free concert is set to take place in Downtown Burlington at Civic Square from 4:30 p.m – although the band say that some of the concert will be streamed live on their Facebook page.

The line-up for the event includes acoustic performances from other Canadian musicians, including rock band Monster truck, members of the Barenaked Ladies, pop singer Scott Helman, and others.

Walk Off the Earth made their name in 2012, when their cover of Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’, which sees all five members of the band singing and playing one guitar at once, went viral on Youtube.

The band was set to kick off their upcoming 2019 world tour on New Year’s Eve, with a televised performance in Niagara Falls, Ontario, but pulled out due to Taylor’s sudden death.

The group plan to continue touring in February.
