The range of the tremors from Chester Bennington‘s sudden suicide of July 20th is still being fully realised. The Linkin Park singer’s passing has elicited impassioned responses from fans the world over. The latest high-profile tribute came from Coldplay, who played the first gig on their current tour of North America in Rutherford, New Jersey this week, and took the opportunity to reflect on the star’s death.
Chris Martin slowed things down for a moment during their performance, sitting down at his piano and play a solo rendition of Linkin Park’s classic single ‘Crawling‘, from their 2000 debut album, Hybrid Theory. Watch the performance below.
Obviously Martin’s version is quite different to the soul-scraping fury of Linkin Park’s original ‘Crawling‘, but it serves as a poignant memorial to the lost singer, to join the thousands of others who are still mourning Bennington’s death.
