Madonna has shared a video of herself performing an acoustic cover of Britney Spears‘ track ‘Toxic‘.
The cover was uploaded to the singer’s Instagram account on 2nd December, the day before Spears birthday and World AIDS Day. In the stylish infrared video, Madonna sings the second verse from the Zone single: “It’s getting late/ To give you up/ I took a sip/ From my devil’s cup/ Slowly, it’s taking over me.”
In the caption of the video, the star wrote: “Silence =Death! “Song For World AIDS Day! #toxic# poisonparadise.” and wished Britney a happy birthday. Watch below.
In addition to her cover song the ‘Like A Prayer‘ singer also shared two photographs. One of the posts showed a poignant letter she had written back in 1991 that was featured as an advert in Billboard magazine and the other post was a photograph of her, Keith Haring and Martin Burgoyne – two friends who died of the disease.
“We need to continue to make people aware of this disease to do what we can to facilitate research and above all to practice safe sex!!” she wrote in one of the pictures captions.
