St.Vincent has directed a short which features in forthcoming anthology horror film ‘XX’.
The film sees the singer-songwriter take on directing duties for one of the four parts. The three other directors are Karyn Kusama (The Invitation), Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound), and Jovanka Vuckovic (The Captured Bird).
“The films are very different but there are overriding anxieties about female-ness to a degree. And I want to say body horror is a component,” Kusama told horror podcast Killer POV.
The film will premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival before seeing limited release in cinemas and arriving on video-on-demand services on February 17.
Meanwhile, St.Vincent is due to release a follow-up to her 2014 self-titled album this spring.
