The track was recorded 21 years ago for OK Computer but has finally emerged this week.
Radiohead have released a video for ‘I Promise‘ which will appear on their OK Computer reissue OKNOTOK. Two more tracks, ‘Man of War‘ and ‘Lift‘ will also appear on the album.
The video, directed by Michal Marczak, follows passengers on a bus ride late at night. However, it becomes apparent that the people are actually animatronic heads against the window – which is a nod towards the themes of OK Computer. Marczak has worked with frontman Thom York in the past as he directed Mark Pritchard‘s ‘Beautiful People‘ featuring York, as well as Radiohead’s vignette for their track ‘Identikit‘.
‘I Promise‘ was premiered last night on BBC Radio 6 by Steve Lamacq. Speaking about the song, Lamacq said the band were “especially pleased to find [the song] in the vaults, because they thought it’d been lost over the years.” The reissue is due for release 23rd June.
