Watch St. Vincent’s vibrant new video for ‘New York’

Although St. Vincent‘s ‘New York‘ is a woeful breakup ballad, the visuals for the track are stunningly cheery and colourful.

The Alex Da Corte directed video sees the singer sitting in front of a number of brightly coloured backgrounds surrounded by obscure props. The vivid visuals include Annie Clark on a sofa with a swan and playing a giant piano Michael Jackson style in her high heels. Watch the colourful clip below.

Speaking about the video in a press release Da Corte said: “I think Annie’s New York is the New York of my dreams—one that is blurry and fractured, dreamy and flat. It is the Toontown to my Hollywood. It is beautiful but slightly out of reach.”

Clark recently discussed her next album with Pitchfork revealing that it’s “all about sex and drugs and sadness.
