Watch Waxahatchee’s video for ethereal new release ‘Chapel of Pines’

A year after the release of her critically acclaimed album, ‘Out In The Storm’, Waxahatchee is already back in the saddle with her gorgeous new single, ‘Chapel of Pines.‘ It’s a sonically stripped back affair, with dreamy subtle strings and soft guitars leading this folky lullaby through to its pensive and tender ending.  It is a notable change in sound for singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield, previously preoccupied with making a punk DIY racket on her previous albums, she has said of this shift:

“I would say that it is a complete 180 from the last record: super stripped-down, quiet, and with me performing solo, it’s a throwback to how I started…Overall, the EP is a warm, kind of vibey recording.”

The video contains equally romantic and soft visuals, following Crutchfield and Kevin Morby as they prance about lush American greenery. Give it a watch on a warm summers evening, and feel the magic of those delicate strings and pretty visuals. Watch the video below.

Make sure to watch out for Waxahatchee‘s new EP ‘Great Thunder’ which will drop 7th September.
