Today, Music Crowns is proud to premiere something quietly extraordinary: ‘Dear You, It’s Me’, the deeply personal and cinematic spoken-word piece from Irish singer-songwriter Harry Hudson Taylor.
Best known as one half of the acclaimed folk duo Hudson Taylor, and later under his solo alias Lady Bird Lad, Harry now returns under his own name — and with that comes a whole new level of creative vulnerability. ‘Dear You, It’s Me’ marks a rare and reflective departure from his signature melodic style, delivering a letter to the self that’s as grounding as it is poetic.
Set against a warm, ambient instrumental backdrop — entirely self-produced and mixed by Harry himself — the piece began life as a journal entry written during a café break in Berlin. “It started as something I needed to hear,” Harry says. “A quiet conversation with myself. I figured, if I needed it, maybe someone else might too.”
The track is accompanied by a stunning short film, following Harry through the twilight streets of Berlin, culminating in a wordless embrace that speaks volumes. It’s a meditation on time, tenderness, and the quiet power of showing up for yourself.
True to form, Harry doesn’t just release a track — he offers an experience. Alongside the spoken-word version, he’s also released an instrumental mix, a gentle canvas designed for listeners to use during journaling, meditation, or their own creative processes.
“It felt important not to separate the message from its origin,” Harry explains. “The words came from a very real moment, and I wanted to honour that.”
With ‘Dear You, It’s Me’, Harry Hudson Taylor proves once again that storytelling takes many forms. Whether through harmony-rich folk, ambient textures, or spoken-word confessions, his artistry continues to evolve — always rooted in compassion, always reaching for connection.
This release may be a one-off format-wise, but the emotional impact lingers. As Harry prepares to return to melodic, sung material in future releases, this piece stands as a reminder: sometimes, the quietest voices speak the loudest.
