Released December 4th, 2020 via Ditto – ‘Salma’ is a sinister, alluring track by up-and-coming Londoner, Mertder.
The heart of the song is built around a sampled vocal melody which hints at his Turkish heritage & Ennio Morricone. It is the gentle innocence, sometimes cheeky, leading you through, juxtaposed against the sinister harshness.
Lyrically and melodically it lures you in, then attacks. Telling a tale of sweet deception, the songs title simply an allusion to its namesake, its true nature is revealed only when it’s too late.
Mertder (silent t) is a dark and exciting new take on electronic dance music, heavily inspired by his London roots but not without a shade of his Turkish heritage.
Debuting his single ‘Rampage’ this year it gained traction, provoking Lithuanian DJ Jarośka to create two remixes he toured the festival circuit with.
“London was the perfect setting for me to fall in love with a variety of genres over the years. My music takes and dances with a few of those but hints that the others are still there, camouflaged, waiting to be found.” – MERTDER
