An Unforgettable Album: ‘These Wheels’ by Papa George

Among the many great blues artists, past and present, Papa George sits at the tip top of my ranking. As someone who has been making music for many years, he has had plenty of time to hone his craft and he absolutely has. His newest release titled ‘These Wheels’ speaks volumes to his abilities as a musician and vocalist. He has a masterful way of embodying the emotion of a song and turning it into a dazzling display of blues electricity.

I love each track, but one of my favourites is track number eight titled ‘Missing You.’ It has a certain swagger to it that is irresistible. It reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughan in all the best ways. It has a lot of great energy, and the bridge is incredible. The guitar solo is a scorcher and adds a lot of spice to the track.

The musical odyssey that is the final track titled ‘Deep Blue’ is an unbelievable ending to this album. It starts off soft and sweet and slowly grows into an impassioned, bluesy trudge. It goes through a whole range of emotions in the span of five and a half minutes. It ends how it began: with a thoughtful and bright ascension.

‘These Wheels’ is an incredible album and has been on an endless loop in my headphones. And that is exactly where it belongs.
