The 19-year-old performed an emotional rendition of ‘Piece by Piece’ by Kelly Clarkson which reduced a judge to tears.
Caitlyn VanBeck entered season 13 of the X Factor last year. During her audition, she discussed problems she has had with bullying and how her father has helped her through it. She then went on to perform the hit song by the American singer.
The judges were instantly impressed with the young singer’s voice. As the song went on it became more emotional and by the end, she couldn’t hold back the tears and neither could judge Nicole Scherzinger.
VanBeck, who is from East Lothian in Scotland, got through to the judges’ house stage where she was unfortunately eliminated by Simon Cowell to the disappointment of fans. However, this has not deterred her as she continues to share music on her Twitter and has recently performed during the Scottish dates for Union J’s world tour.
‘Piece by Piece’ is well known for being emotional, especially after Kelly Clarkson performed a sentimental version on American Idol in 2016. You can watch it below.
