Flaming June takes positive approach on new EP

Released in December, the new EP from Cambridge song writer Flaming June (aka Louise Eatock) is out now and once again finds a female folk artist on great form. Known largely for her combination of dark themes with light, catchy melodies, this EP is a slight departure in that it has a slightly brighter outlook.

This new positivity, plus the addition of bass guitar and drums, removes a touch of the acoustic rawness which made previous EP ‘Rumpelstiltskin’ so compelling. However, the new layers and approach make for songs with more depth, better production and arguably catchier melodies.

All in all then, this marks another excellent release, keeping quality high while exploring new avenues. Which marks this out as a win.
