Brighton quintet become first UK band to join prestigious label roster
As It Is have had quite a year.
The Brighton based quintet – vocalist Patty Walters, vocalist/guitarist Ben Biss, guitarist Andy Westhead, drummer Patrick Foley and bassist Alistair Testo – kicked off 2014 with the self-release of their fan-funded E.P, ‘This Mind Of Mine’, and preceded to hit the road on their first full tour in its support.
Their name grew rapidly as the year went on, and the tours kept stacking up, As It Is trekking around the UK with ROAM & Light You Up, and then as headliners of the 2014 ‘Ourzone Tour’.
But nothing could quite prepare the young band for the next chapter of their blossoming career: a worldwide deal with Fearless Records.
“I haven’t found a way yet of wording how surreal and wonderful it feels, signing to one of my favourite record labels,” says Patty Walters; “To be able to say something as immense as, ‘My band was the first UK band that ever signed to Fearless Records’ is mind-blowing to me. I’ve never been looking more wide-eyed to the future.”
“Being on the same label as bands that I’ve loved and aspired to feels like somewhat of a dream, and one that I still can’t quite get my head around,” adds Ben Biss; “Chances like this don’t come around often, especially for UK bands in a genre that is mainly dominated by American acts; so we want to help prove that the UK can hold their own in the scene.”
As It Is will travel to Florida this weekend to begin tracking of their debut full length album with acclaimed producer James Paul Wisner (Paramore, Underoath). The album will be released worldwide via Fearless in 2015.
