Date for your calendar: March 4th sees the UK digital release of Goldswagger, the highly anticipated new album of New York based and internationally known record producer Michael Goldwasser. You might have heard his name in the reggae world – his previous work being praised by David Gilmour himself for Dub Side of the Moon and by Radiohead for Radiodread.
But Goldswagger is a journey back to the R&B/soul/funk side of the reggae master and it brings back the vibes of the late 70’s/early 80’s, when music was still recorded as live as possible in the studio and musicianship ruled the day. Remember those days…? The first self-titled album of this project features all original compositions by Michael – songs about life, love, and staying positive.
The line-up on Goldswagger is massive: from Michael who plays guitar, keyboards, bass, percussion, and sings, to killer musical contributions from John “JR” Robinson (Chaka Khan/Rufus, Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall), Manny Laine (Wyclef Jean), and Ivan Katz (Easy Star All-Stars) on drums; Bill Holloman (Nile Rodgers’ Chic) on horns, Uri Kleinman (Martha Wash) on bass, Shaul Eshet (Karolina) on keys, and guest lead vocals by Maya Azucena, Honey Larochelle, Lisala Beatty, Sophia Ramos, Robbie Rosen, Greg Vilfranc, and Melaku.
“I Can’t Wait”, the first single off the album is already getting major airplay on radio stations all across the UK, and Goldswagger just released the visuals that illustrate the soulful and old school R&B-sounding collaboration with Maya Azucena.
