Who is answering the questions?

DJ Beckage (lead singer)

Can you tell us about the formation of Long Time Divided?

I was looking for a new band after my old band had broken up and the original line-up of the band, including Bob, our bassist, were looking for a lead singer. We met up and after the first night, we had written three songs–Spiders, Take Me Away, and Breaker–that were featured on our debut album.

How did you get to the name Long Time Divided, and what does it mean to you?

The name was actually on a list of song names I had. We were going through names and everyone seemed to like it. I thought it was a bit poetic because we all had come from different music backgrounds and yet came together to make some cool music.
Can you tell us a bit about the main bands that have influenced you since starting out as Long Time Divided?

Well for me, I grew up with the grunge rock music scene so I have my musical roots based heavily in the 90s music, with band like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. We all have an affinity for metal and hard rock which I think helps give us a focal point with all our song writing.

What can you tell us about your latest track ‘Requiem’?

“Requiem” is a song about the excesses and vices in all our lives. They become these all-consuming entities and we have to either learn to stand up against them or fall to the wayside. Something has to end.

What else can you tell us about your current material?

We have some really awesome new tracks. I’m so excited about them because we’re writing music in a different way and that’s challenging and scary and fun.

Are you guys currently working on new material, if so how is it coming along, and what can listeners expect to hear from it?

We’re going to be bringing a bunch of new songs and material to the masses. These songs are different but, if you’ve heard our album, it’s still “us.”

How does a song normally come together for Long Time Divided?

We typically bring a song or a guitar riff or a melody and flesh the idea out from there. It’s fun because we get the chance to truly create a song.

As an up and coming band, then what would you say separates you from the rest? We don’t confuse ourselves as being some sort of “second coming,” ya know what I mean?

There’s no ego here. We have fun and we enjoy playing for our fans. We’re playing music that we enjoy creating and that’s the best feeling in the world.

Can you tell us a bit about your latest logo design, as well as maybe what it means to you?

The LTD logo is the logo I originally created for the band. I wanted a mark that was easy to view and had our initials in there. It’s simplistic and balanced and I think that idea describes us as a band: we’re a very meat-and-potatoes band.

How would you say the alternative rock scene has changed since you first started out?

I think the music scene, in general, has become so quick that musicians have to adapt. Social media has also made the music scene that much easier to get your name out there.

What else can we expect to see from Long Time Divided in 2015?

New album. I know that’s a quick answer but it’s also just exciting to say: new album! We’ve been working on new songs and are looking to get the new album finished this year. We can’t wait!
