Introducing: Anderson

Anderson

Since he entered the Dance music scene in 2001, Anderson has become one of the industry’s most respected professionals, thanks to his unique arsenal of Deep House wonders which includes stellar productions including: ‘Foreign Feathers’, ‘Downfall’, ‘Resilient’, ‘Shift Control’, ‘Nocturne’, ‘Domain’ and ‘Tralia’– a release catalogue many aspiring producers strive to achieve.

The multi-talented artist has been releasing music on established labels such as Elektrified Music, Urban Latin Records and Mayer’s Records as well as gaining support from many of the scene’s A-List star. We had the pleasure of catching up with Anderson to talk about his career.

Hi Anderson, how are you and what’s going on in your world at the moment?

Good, thanks. I’m currently busy with multiple projects and working on releasing new music with a few labels in the near future.

Where are you currently based?

Guadalajara, Mexico.  Best tequila in world.

How would you describe your sound?

That’s hard, because the sound is always developing based on my mood, but I would have to say heavy, brooding, dark (sometimes uplifting), Deep Tech House.

Has your style gone through any changes along the years?

Definitely. I used to write Drum & Bass, and before that I was writing Progressive House.

Who were your influences growing up?

In the Dance music world: Goldie, Fab & Groove, and Steve Lawler

With non-dance music: Deftones, Five Palms & Team Sleep

How did you get involved in the Dance music business?

The business got its hooks in me when I started putting on parties with 2 friends from Philadelphia. We would rent out a warehouse and put on themed parties where hundreds of dancers would dress up for the event. Creating the party and rocking at peak hour was rush.

Where would you like to see yourself in the months ahead?

My goal for 2016 is to use the upcoming releases as leverage for bookings around Mexico.

Which is your ultimate career dream?

To play festivals around the world where I can showcase my new music to a crowd of fans. Pinnacle moment.

Your latest release was ‘Revolver EP’ which was released on KULT Records. How has the release been received by your fellow DJs and are you happy with the success of them?

People like the tracks on there because they’re expressive and noticeable of my sound. However, the traction hasn’t been good because there was no push before the release. There wasn’t too much marketing management behind the release.

Who’s inspiring you in 2016?

Michael Gannon, a yoga teacher out in Playa del Carmen. He’s not in music production, but any discipline can be advantageous for writing music.

If you could choose, who would you like to collaborate with?

Oh, ending a sentence in a preposition. I’d have to say Adrian Hour. His tracks are definitive, and there’s so much I could learn from him. Plus, he’s done so much.

Tell us something not many people know about Anderson?

I geek out about dinosaurs. I love museums of natural history.
