Born in Toronto, Daniel Schwartz, the man behind the Schwartzvegas moniker has been travelling around the world to find the right home for his music. Before turning 20, the talented DJ and producer has lived in three major cities: New York, Miami and his hometown Toronto, piling up diverse influences which are shaping one of the most interesting prospects around.

Boasting his own brand of Progressive sound, dabbling also into Melbourne and Future House, Schwartzvegas is lining-up some tasty projects which will certainly launch him on the international Dance music panorama. Whilst waiting for Schwartzvegas’ next moves we’ve had the pleasure to have a chat with him and get a closer look at his developing music career.

Hey Schwartzvegas, how are you today and what’s going on in your world right now?

I’m well, lots going on though. I’m currently living in NYC for the summer, before I head back to Miami in the fall for school. Every day I try to come up with something new: a new idea, a new melody or a just a new tip on how to make my music better.

Which part of the world do you call home?

That’s a good question, because my “home” is where my music has a chance to flourish, not where I sleep at night. Right now, that place is New York, although my heart will always lie in my hometown, Toronto. Before I turned 20, I had already lived in the 3 above mentioned metropolises, so traveling and finding a new home are two things I’m always prepared to do.

How did you get started in the Dance music business?

I was inspired by people like the Swedish House Mafia and Alesso. I would go to their shows and hoped that someday I would be up there on stage and day by day that dream is becoming closer to a reality. My first ever DAW was Ableton Live, because I figured “why not start at the top?” And sure, I respect other DAWs, but Ableton captured my interest from day one.

What’s the electronic music scene like in your area?

It’s great. You can always find someone who shares musical tastes with you. Whether it’s at a club or at the beach, there’s bound to be someone who likes the same music as you do.

How long have you been making music?

Again, a loaded question. I could argue that since I was a small child I had a fascination with musical instruments. So you could technically say for almost my entire life. But it became more of a reality and a lifestyle when I became old enough to start appreciating concerts.

Are you more of a DJ or producer?

Producer – there’s a limit to how good, and how big you can get as just a DJ. Not many people make it past the local bar/club scene spinning other peoples’ music.

Where did you draw your inspirations growing up?

Some say that the Swedish House Mafia is too generic or overplayed. But I really appreciate the “anthemic” style of their music. After all, their music for the longest time was considered to be the national anthem of House music, so I’d have to go with them.

How would you describe your style?

My music? I have always liked just a big, progressive sound. As for me personally, I try to offer a different prospective on not only music, but life. I’m not the loudest guy, and never have been, but I believe in using your voice for change and progress. I believe in the good in people. I’m open minded, and always looking to meet new people and enjoy the many facets of life.

Has your sound changed in any way along the years?

In some ways, sure. But your inspiration and goals never change.

Could you walk us through your major career achievements so far?

The best has yet to come. Let’s leave it at that 😉

Do you have any projects in the pipeline in 2015?

Absolutely – lots of projects in the works, working on some collaborations as well.

Where would you like to see yourself in the coming months?

The bigger, the better, never stop growing. I’m not going to say ‘point A’ or ‘point B’ because I know success in this field is a journey of great proportions.

What is your ultimate career goal?

Just having the chance to say “I made it.”

Who would you like to work with in the future?

I’d love to meet more Progressive House artists. I’m also getting into Melbourne and Future, so definitely artists who share those passions as well!

Anything to add/shout outs?

My good friend and fellow producer Abe Duque. He’s always doing something or travelling somewhere and he’s a great guy to know.

Thanks Schwartzvegas!
