About the band

M.I.S (Made in Sweden) is a London-based songwriting and production act that focuses on mainstream popular music.  Comprised of July Yesipovitch, Ori Becker and Jojo Desmond. M I S have been together since late 2012, although they have been together for less than a year, Made In Sweden have accomplished much. Perhaps their greatest attribute is their DIY approach to the music industry. When other acts post a Facebook statues about finding a new lead singer, Made In Sweden hold an open audition that includes singing and dancing tests. When other bands are told they do not have enough of a following and fan base, these nutters film the entire audition process and make a YouTube viral show out of it, voting and all!

CASTING DAY 

Undoubtedly the most interesting thing about the band is their different backgrounds and musical influences.

Jojo

Jojo began her career dancing in Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake after graduating from The Central School of Ballet. During her dance training she earned a bit of extra money singing in front of thousands at Wembley Arena as lead in the Dr Who Arena shows.

There’ve also been a few brief collaborations with: Gus Isadore (Seal), Mike Choi (Mika) and Kevan Frost (Boy George). She sang backing vocals for Martina Topley-Bird’s ‘Need One’ video and for Delta Goodrem on Top of the Pops. You can also catch her frequenting a few London establishments, moonlighting as a 1940s jazz singer with one, or a few, of her musicians.

July

July’s background in classical music has allowed a unique perspective in pop songwriting and production, which has been forged internationally, from Moscow to Tel Aviv to London.

A classically trained pianist, his influences include Ne-Yo, Usher, Drake, Calvin Harris and Above & Beyond.

Ori spent most of his musical training between the coasts of the U.S and Israel and he has been perfecting his production skills in London, working with pop stars such as Pixie Lott and Sam Smith.

Ori’s influences include John Mayer, John Legend and John Lennon. Ori
