‘Made In Sweden’ – One-Two-Three (Part 1)

Made In Sweden

Music Review:

‘Good Times’ is Made In Sweden’s debut 2013 EP. This 4 track mini album is a representative of the bands influences, a synergy of 90’s vibe with current pop music.

The full EP is available for streaming and download on SoundCloud and soon on the act’s iPhone app:

Track 1: Dance

This is a 3:00 minute master-class of what a good Pop song should be. Firstly, it gets you, as the title suggests, dancing by the first 30 seconds. Secondly, once you are hooked you don’t let go until the song is over. An anthemic chorus that changes each time, no copy and paste for these guys. Harmonies, ad-libs, BVs, this song has it all while maintaining an extremely radio friendly sound.

Track 2: Dj Boy (In a Red Tie)

Synthesis, 1 guitar solo and a Darbuka make the world go round, well at least this song does. It’s clear to see that whoever wrote Dj Boy was paying attention in music class, as it creates a true melting pot of Pop music with a hint of Mediterranean musical nuances (as can be heard at the middle 8 section).  “I was meant to stay at home  but he’s making me dance on a school night”. Indeed!

Track 3: Loved You

From the Good Times EP, Loved You is the only single with a music video out:

At an impressive 50,000 plus views, this is a true Pop/Ballad/Dance song that hits it on all levels.  A tail of love and lose, that can only be written from personal life experiences. Some say that there is always room for a ballad in the charts, so why not be able to dance to it as well. Great final scene in the music video, with the take home message of never cheat on a women, you never know how it will end.

Track 4: Pink Pound

Musically, Pink Pound is the most out there of the bunch. A mixture of Dub step with Dance music in a very M I S fashion. The track has a big sound, lots of energy and an even bigger message.  Does “The Pink Pound make the world go round?” What is the pink pound? Is it Gay rights? Positive energy towards our fellow man? Is it neither? Is it all of the above?
