New album from Songs For Mr Sloane – ‘It Is What It Is’

Songs for Mr SloaneCreatively driven by multi-instrumentalist Peter Dale and bassist Guy Snook, Songs For Mr Sloane are a band of extremely talented friends who take time out of other projects in order to get creative in the studio. With five members in total, the members assemble from various places like the musical answer to The Avengers – pooling their powers into their combined songs.

The latest result of these studio sessions is the new album ‘It Is What It Is’, an eclectic selection of songs that give some idea as to the psyche of these recording sessions. Wild, wide ranging and free flowing, the songs aren’t tied to a particular style or expectation, simply the work of five top class musicians let loose with one another.

The results are, at times spectacular. And in the moments when they are not as ear catching, there’s always somethign to hold your attention. It’s tough to roundly describe and album that hits you with a pop track in one breath, and then sideswipes you with some cool jazz. But one thing does come across – they probably had a blast making it.
