New Fleetwood Mac collaboration announced for 2017

Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie are recording a new album of duets due for release this year, it has been reported.

The record will also feature contributions from Mac bandmates Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, although it won’t be released under the Fleetwood Mac banner.

Speaking to the LA Times, McVie said: “I’ve been sending Lindsey demos in their very raw form, and he’s been doing his Lindsey magic on them, which I love.”

Buckingham added, regarding their decision to develop a demo exchange into a full LP: “It made sense to me with what she had given me and what I done with it. But we still didn’t know how it was going to play out in the studio… I loved doing it, because it’s something I haven’t had a chance to do for Stevie [Nicks] as much as I did in the past.”

The record is tentatively titled Buckingham McVie, a homage to Buckingham and Nicks’ pre-Mac LP Buckingham Nicks.
