One of the front runners in the race for this year’s prestigious Christmas number one position is, a humble Robot.
What started life as jovial jingle for his wife and two daughters, has now attracted backing from one of the record industry’s greatest ever producers, Mr Mike Stock.
Retrobot and the infectiously catchy track, “Christmas Robot” is the collaboration of Chris Davis (37) and Rod Evans (48) AKA K-rodd. Dad Chris, was challenged by his wife to come up with a ‘Christmas jingle’ to entertain his young family. Twenty songs later, with the help of his mate Rod, Retrobot was born.
But that’s only half the story…
The original track was recorded in Chris’ dining room, and uploaded to online music site Amazing Tunes, so the wider family could all enjoy the music that had entertained the children.
Earlier last month, only by chance, the track was heard by North East talent spotter, Dean ‘Midas’ Maynard. Feeling that “Christmas Robot” was a hit just waiting to happen, he tracked the lads down.
Dean then asked if the lads had considered releasing the record as he knew just the man who might be interested in helping to release the song, the most successful songwriting/producer in British chart history, Mike Stock.
In what was then a whirlwind of a few days, Mike Stock loved what he heard and agreed to produce the track for the team and help them release it in time for Christmas.
