Single review – C’nky Siwela, ‘My Life in the Echo’ – EDM single out now

Having won awards in his home country of South Africa (“Best Afro-Pop Artist” at the nationally recognised SACRA Awards no less), C’nky Siwela finds himself in a good spot right now.

His upbeat single, ‘My Name in the Echo’, is out now and finds the vocalist on good EDM/pop form. Offering something different to his previous pop single ‘Distant Cry’, which had less of a dance beat, this is another demonstration of just why Siwela could make real moves in the music industry.

His music is instantly accessible, and you can imagine it being played on the radio (and in this case in clubs) no problem. But he’s also versatile. He uses that depth in his vocal to produce pop music of different sub-genres such as EDM to make sure his releases never seem like they’re coming from the same production line. However, they are all tied together by that vocal.

Rumour has it that the album also has some jazz elements to add to the pop party. It’s shaping up to be very intriguing indeed.
