Special Kinda Madness – more than just a tribute band

There are many cover bands who try to immitate their idols as much as they can, but often just end up as a parody. London’s Special Kinda Madness is different.

They don’t immitate Specials and Madness – they naturally pass the rock’n’roll energy to the crowd. And the more honest they are, the more natural their shows looks. Their new EP is a mixture of Madness and Specials songs, including “Skinhead Symphony” and “Monkey Man”. The interesting thing about this EP is that it’s recorded live, without any gimmicks. You can hear band, instruments, crowd, and even bar staff collecting glass…

As you can see by the videos on their website, their shows are full of energy and the audience gets very excited whenever the band plays. I think it’s also the power of this music that makes the band really interesting and attractive. The music which never gets old, is precious, because it recalls the memories from the past. Who doesn’t love Madness and Specials, their fun attitude and relaxed sound? I think ‘Special Kinda Madness’ has the same atributes. The singer’s voice is growly and swaggish, the band interracts well with the crowd, so there’s no gap between artist and fun. Also the instruments in the band make the Special Kinda Madness special indeed… The saxophone sounds really dope and the whole band sounds tight too!

The EP, recorded in The Horns in Watford earlier this year, costs less than you can expect from the established London tribute band – £3. I guarantee that when you put the CD on your CD player and close your eyes, you will feel like you are in the crowd in the pub, cheering and clapping!
