Tiger Blood: Big Steve

There are two things that stand out from the off with London based quartet Tiger Blood. The first of these things being; the lead guitarist and vocalist “Jeeves” looks like a high street version of Bombay Bicycle Club’s Jack Steadman (you can thank me later), and the second being how much of a Maccabees vibe they’re giving off. The Maccabees circa 2008 that is, back when they were still singing about wave machines and schnooky schnooks. But, is this a good thing? The answer is absolutely, yes.
Released at the beginning of this month, the boys’ new single “Big Steve” is held together by chirpy, upbeat rhythms and unfaltering harmonies that make it nothing short of delightful, and although it would seem that the wavering vocals (slightly reminiscent of early Morrissey) are the deal breaker with this track, it’s the intricate arrangements and somewhat addictive, jerky riffs that assist in making it so easy on the ears.

Rapidly making their way through every indie gig and shin-dig across the country, Tiger Blood are doing a pretty good job at keeping us all entertained. Thanks guys.

Big Steve is now available on iTunes, and I’d put money on it being the first of many.
