Singing For Superheroes is the fantastic charity which aims to help children undergoing medical treatment by encouraging them to keep fighting through music.
The charity was set up by Steven Battey of the Jackie Boyz. After he lost his mother and father at a young age, he moved away from Savannah, GA, and pursued a career in music. He has now been nominated four times at the Grammys and has written for artists such as Madonna, Justin Bieber, and Bruno Mars. After meeting Alix Petersen, who is well known for her involvement in healthcare, they decided to start Singing For Superheros to make children fighting for their lives feel like the real heroes they are.
Singing For Superheros provides this inspiring service by creating original music and live performances for children with diseases and disabilities. The music features the children while also bringing in well-known celebrities for the music videos.
Above, you can watch their video with Audrey Nethery, who has Diamond-Blackfan anaemia; a rare disease that affects the bone marrow. Audrey has been raising awareness for the condition through her online videos, including a Zumba dance video which went viral with over 13 million views. Her video with the charity has amassed an amazing 9 million views on YouTube alone. The song, ‘Life is Beautiful‘ is the first song released Singing For Superheroes and was written with her in mind by Battey and her father Scott Nethery.
Speaking of Audrey, Battey said, “Audrey is a remarkable girl who has shown incredible strength and joy in the face of adversity. She inspired us to write ‘Life’s Beautiful’ and we are thrilled to release it to the world“.
Singing For Superheroes are still looking for people to contribute to their campaign by creating songs and working with them. This is a wonderful cause which is bringing hope to children who truly deserve it.
