X Factor 2013 Quarter Final

Judges

Coming around quicker than a Formula 1 racing car, it’s already the X Factor quarter final.

After finding herself in the bottom two for the third time, Hannah Barrett ran out of luck last week and six became five.

It’s jukebox week and each act has the chance to raise their game by singing two songs each.

Nicholas McDonald was up first and I although I can’t knock his vocal ability, I agree with Mrs O, he needs to find a spark, or he risks fading faster than a firework going off in the autumn sky. I think I may have commented on his lack of the whole X Factor package in one of my earlier reviews.

He stepped up the pace for his second song taking on a Take That track, but again, for me, it didn’t work. His normally strong vocal, struggled at times.

Every week Sam Bailey takes on someone else’s song and sings it better than the original. This is the sign of a class act. 10/10. For her second song, all I will say is these simple words, my X Factor winner. Simple.

This was a good week for Tamera. After two weeks of fluffing her lines, she bounced back like all good pop stars do. Her first song was much, much better. Her version of “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” was excellent. Whatever happens, this girl is set for stardom.

I love the tone of Luke Friend’s voice and he is coming up on the rails, faster than a greyhound chasing a (fake) rabbit. First song was very strong. Luke is now becoming a major threat. With every week and every song, he is getting stronger and stronger and his take of “I Will Wait”, in my opinion has booked him a place in the semi final.

Last group standing Rough Copy, seemed to lose their spark, with their first song and I was really growing to like them. I didn’t enjoy it at all. If one act needed a strong second song, it was Rough Copy. Good work lads you certainly delivered. Let’s hope its enough as with their personalities it would be good to see them go further.

Who goes…find out tonight at 8pm
