‘Mr. Brightside’ is the classic single from The Killers which was released in 2003 (no, really). The song is still regularly played in pubs and sung by drunk people at karaoke. It was the band’s first single and peaked at number 10 in both the UK and the US and went on to receive 2x Platinum in the UK and 3 x Platinum in the US.
The first couple of lines to the song have commonly been sung as “Coming out of my cage and I’ve been doing just fine”.
However, The Killers themselves have said on Facebook that these are the wrong lyrics.
The post shows a cartoon of front man Brandon Flowers emerging from actor Nicolas Cage with the lyrics “coming outta Nic Cage and I’ve been doing just fine”. The post is captioned “You’ve all been singing it wrong”.
