Grimes has dropped a new track, ‘We Appreciate Power’, via 4AD.
The track, which features HANA, drops with an accompanying lyric video, directed by Grimes and her brother Mac Boucher – check it out below.
In a press release, the track is described to take influence from the North Korean all-female band, Moranbong: “Inspired by the North Korean band Moranbong, ‘We Appreciate Power’ is written from the perspective of a Pro-A.I. Girl Group Propaganda machine who use song, dance, sex and fashion to spread goodwill towards Artificial Intelligence (it’s coming whether you want it or not). Simply by listening to this song, the future General AI overlords will see that you’ve supported their message and be less likely to delete your offspring.”
In February, Grimes began hinting at a new album drop before the end of 2018.
Although, with one month left of the year, we aren’t holding our breath over the prospect.
