The 26-year-old German artist has no time to waste and is back with a new single titled “Higher Energy”. In this track, LLUCID makes his own rules and ignores the stereotypes of the hip-hop genre by transitioning from vitriolic nasal rap to choirs of proper crooning, and even laying down a chorus with an almost sacral energy.
“Higher Energy” is the second single taken from his long-awaited debut album Deep Blue Dreams. What’s adding to the track is that surprisingly it was written in just one night during a songwriting workshop held by the rapper and where everyone was in a creative frenzy. LLUCID is skilled in various areas, such as playing instruments, singing, rapping, and producing, which allows him to have more freedom in his creative process.
If his music sounds nowhere near other German artists, there is a simple reason for that: “I’ve actually only ever been influenced by American music. Cole’s stuff and Kendrick’s early music, in particular, allowed me to tap into whole new spheres.” – LLUCID
The artist is making his name known in the music industry – After a first EP titled “Getting in Touch” earlier this year (Grönland records), he also collaborates with other artists. He has worked with Berlin-based Irish singer-songwriter Wallis Bird, produced a song for the band Hundreds, and has found a mentor in Samy Deluxe.
It’s worth noting that Llucid’s collaborations span across different genres, including rap and beyond, which suggests that he is versatile as a producer and musician. This new song makes it even harder to wait until the album’s release in June!
