PS22 Chorus have gone viral over the years with touching performances of hit songs such as ‘Just Dance’ by Lady Gaga, ‘Viva La Vida’ by Coldplay, and ‘Rolling in the Deep’ by Adele. They’ve even been joined by celebrities including Katy Perry and Jojo to perform stunning covers of their songs.
The young chorus is from Staten Island in New York. It’s composed of around 70 fifth graders of Staten Islands biggest elementary school. Gregg Breinberg leads the chorus and after the 9/11 attacks, he led them to perform on live TV. Since then he has been posting their videos on YouTube.
‘Just Dance’ has over 5.8 million views on YouTube to this day. However, we think their cover of ‘Hallelujah’ by Leonard Cohen is one of their most impressive videos. Over the years, the popular song has been covered by a multitude of artists from Jeff Buckley to Alexandra Burke, but we think this is one of the best covers we’ve heard so far.
