Watch as Florence and the Machine sings ‘Dog Days Are Over’ to the extremely brave Karinya

Everyone’s favourite, folk-pop songstress, Florence and the Machine, has warmed the hearts of millions with this latest viral video.

Florence sings ‘Dog Days Are Over’ to the extremely brave Karinya after she was too ill to go to her show. You can really feel the love in the room.

For those who don’t know, Florence and the Machine are an English indie rock band that formed in London in 2007, consisting of lead singer Florence Welch, keyboardist Isabella Summers, and a collaboration of other artists.

Karinya was a very special child and according to a family member, she packed more into her 15 years than most people do in 70. She was a kind and caring big sister to her little brother, Evan.  She was a world traveller and visited many countries in Europe and Asia.  She was a singer, dancer and actress and performed in local musical theatre and won a wealth of different academic competitions.

Family friend, Merrie, said: “I had thought, before the cancer returned, that, if there was a reason for this brilliant, amazing child to get cancer, it was to discover the cure for it.  She was that brilliant and I have NO DOUBT that, had she lived, she would have contributed to society in a very significant way. She stole my heart when she was a kindergartener with my son Cord.  The twinkle in her eye radiated, truly radiated out, touching people.  I love to see that so many people pick up on that, and her smile, despite her sweet body being ravaged by the cancer.
