A young dance team are finding viral success thanks to their amazing homecoming performance inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Performing Arts Crew Dance Team from Walden Grove High School, Arizona, delivered an epic 7-minute dance routine. In it, the group recounted classic scenes from such films as Avengers: Endgame and Guardians of the Galaxy to name but a few.
It features the timeless music of the Beastie Boys, Snap and Cher. Appropriately, it also includes the music of Blue Swede, who’s song appears on the Guardians soundtrack.
Since posting the dance on YouTube last week the performance has gained over 1.3 million views.
Speaking to Yahoo, Coach Kristi Lopez said: “We are in shock right now. I mean we love the Avengers and Marvel and all those things, but we didn’t know that it would be this big.”
The dance troupe has already gained a following thanks in no large part to their other movie based dances. These include the spellbinding Harry Potter and The Wizard of Oz routines, the former of which now has over 10 million views on YouTube.
The group appeared on last year’s America’s Got Talent, but were knocked out in the quarter-final. Fascinatingly, no one in the troupe is a trained dancer, but practiced for hours a day in preparation for the performance.
2019 marked a significant big year for Marvel. Recently, Avengers: Endgame became the highest-grossing movie of all time, dethroning James Cameron‘s 2009 smash, Avatar.
