Lincoln Quintet Look To The Future

January 23rd, 2015: In October of 2014, Lincoln based melodic hardcore band Climates experienced two major events: the release of their debut album ‘Body Clocks’ after nearly a year of delay, and the departure of their vocalist and founding member Wes Thompson, due to creative differences.

Undeterred, the remainder of the band – guitarists Sam Bowden and Chris Pritchard, bassist Max Dawson and drummer Matt Powles – knuckled down on the search for a new vocalist, meanwhile channelling their frustrations and fears about an unstable future the only way they knew how: into music.

Toward the end of the year, the band had amassed a wealth of cathartic new material, songs that snapped and snarled at the heels of their collective anxieties, and kept their determination to continue above water. The band’s focussed and positive mindset was further rewarded when Kaya Tarsus, a one time former bandmate of bassist Pritchard, stepped forward to fill the frontman vacancy, and Blood Youth was born.

“The original plan was to dust ourselves off, find a new singer and carry on as Climates,” explains Bowden; “But the combination of Kaya’s range as a vocalist with the energy of the new material made it feel like we were a different band. We felt re-invigorated and closer to the kind of band we’d always wanted to be, so it just didn’t make sense anymore for us to carry on as we were before.”

So, reborn anew and ready to go, Blood Youth are wasting little time in getting back out there. With their first bout of writing complete, the band will enter the studio at the end of February with producer Jonny Renshaw (Devil Sold His Soul, The Elijah, When We Were Wolves) to record a brand new E.P.

The band will also play their debut live show at Takedown Festival at Southampton Uni on March 7th, 2015. Further dates will also be announced very shortly.
