LCD Soundsystem give update on forthcoming album

James Murphy has given fans an update on the eagerly-awaited new LCD Soundsystem album.

The band signed a deal with Columbia Records early last year to record the follow-up to their intended swansong record, 2010’s This Is Happening, and reportedly cancelled a tour of Australia and Asia to continue work on the album.

Responding to a fan’s question about progress on the album on Facebook, Murphy wrote: “Sure. Still working on it, but it’ll be done soon. Winter tends to mess with my voice, so finishing the thing drags out.”

Murphy hasn’t been idle in the intervening years between the band’s split and reformation, counting among a myriad of ventures collaborations with David Bowie, Pulp, and Arcade Fire, launching his own brand of coffee, opening a New York City Restaurant, and designing a symphony system for the New York subway.
