Amy Winehouse biopic plans unveiled by her family

The life of Amy Winehouse will be captured on film, following a multi-million-pound deal signed by her family.

The biopic, directed by Allison Owen, is set to begin shooting in 2019.

Kinky Boots writer Geoff Deane will adapt the singer’s life story alongside her family, who will act as executive producers throughout the process.

Winehouse’s father, Mitch, said in a statement: “We now feel able to celebrate Amy’s extraordinary life and talent,”

“We know through the Amy Winehouse Foundation that the true story of her illness can help so many others who might be experiencing similar issues.”

Proceeds from the upcoming film will benefit the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The plans come just days after a hologram tour of the late-singer was announced for 2019.
