Diana Ross defends Michael Jackson after Leaving Neverland backlash

Diana Ross has called for an end to the criticisms against Michael Jackson after the release of controversial documentary Leaving Neverland.

The programme, which aired in the UK earlier this month, shines a light on allegations of sexual abuse against the late pop star made by two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck.

Jackson denied any wrongdoing until his death in 2009.

Diana Ross has now weighed in on the controversy, tweeting her thoughts on Jackson in the wake of the film’s premiere, writing: “This is what’s on my heart this morning. I believe and trust that Michael Jackson was and is A magnificent incredible force to me and to many others.”

Ross ended the tweet with a nod to her 1965 hit with The Supremes: “STOP IN THE NAME OF LOVE”.

Last week, a factory worker and fan Jackson who legally changed his name to pay tribute to the late singer set up a crowdfunding appeal to legally change his name back

John Lomas from Malvern, Worcestershire changed his name to “John Michael Jackson”, but is now seeking to revert his deed poll after viewing the recent controversial documentary, Leaving Neverland.
