Gemstar is an American Hip Hop artist and co-founder of Dubplanet Media from the streets of New York with a solid commitment to music. He was born and raised in Roosevelt, NY, where music has been the air he breathes from day one. The passion in his heart for music can be heard through tracks like “Life’s Been Good” because he represents the people’s struggles in a hard knock life.
The beginning of his mix tape projects began with the official, “Streetz Gon Burn” series 1-3, which went back to an era when hip hop meant an infinite horizon of possibilities rather than the staleness of predictability. His accomplishments and highlights in his music career includes his mix cd’s “Return Of The Red Eye”, “L.O.L” and “L.M.A.O” which has received critical acclaim in the hip-hop community with stand out tracks like “Going Back” , “Let Go” . and “Running Away’’ft Hard Target.
He has done numerous live performances, even opening for multi-platinum recording artist, Busta Rhymes. Gemstar is well travelled from the streets of Long Island, New York, North Carolina to the beaches of Miami to international cities like Prague in Czech Republic. Throughout his tours while living in Florida since 2007 he has opened up for Nappy Roots, Field Mob, Tech N9ne, MGK, Hopsin and Funk Volume.
Gemstar has been booked on several shows in the U.S in states like Ohio, Michigan, Arizona , Atlanta, and Alabama. Another one of Gemstar’s endeavors has been an international tour with PVP Label’s recording artist, Marpo in the Czech Republic. Marpo’s Riot tour, he accompanied his fellow rap artists, Hard Target and Kensta Lopez which together form TroubleGang.
Gemstar was featured on Marpo’s song “Moment’’ off of his album Riot. Gemstar is iconic because of its ability to bridge two worlds that live and breathe hip hop in different languages. Gemstar’s recent project that was just released in November 2013 is his new album “Open Skies” which includes his two latest videos “Life’s Been Good” and “Perfect” and is available on itunes.
