In the past few years alone, IL VOLO has performed all over the world to over a million people and released two multi platinum selling albums.
Now, the powerhouse operatic pop trio comes to London for a special one off show at the iconic Palladium on 3rd June as part of their 50-date world tour. Coinciding with the release of their third studio album, Grande Amore, a collection of Italian love songs and standards on 27th May on Right Track Records/Universal Music, the tour ends on 29th June with a concert in tribute to Placido Domingo in Madrid.
The award-winning Italian pop opera group, discovered by renowned manager Michele Torpedine (Andrea Bocelli), features Piero Barone (tenor), Ignazio Boschetto (tenor) and Gianluca Ginoble (baritone). The group brings audiences their best live performances of pop and traditional songs backed by symphony orchestras – in English, Italian and Spanish. Since their first TV moment IL VOLO has become a phenomenon that has captured people’s imagination with their world-class vocals and harmonies.
Testament to this, last year they were asked to record on the million selling Elvis Presley album, If I Can Dream, which featured archival vocal recordings of the King accompanied by new orchestral arrangements by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The trio performed backing vocals on It’s Now Or Never.
But the story began in 2009 when the three young Italians won a major televised singing contest. IL VOLO was born, and instantly stepped into the international spotlight, quickly landing a worldwide recording deal with Interscope Records/ Universal Music Group – becoming the first Italian artists to sign with a U.S. label.
In November 2010 IL VOLO released their self-titled debut in Italy, where it was certified platinum. Upon its worldwide release in April 2011, this inspired collection of standards, opera selections and soulful ballads debuted at number 10 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and eventually climbed to the number 6 slot.
In 2011, the group was nominated in the Latin GRAMMY® in two categories: ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Pop Album by a Duo or Group’.
In 2015 they won a prestigious award at the Sanremo Music Festival in Italy, which led to their EP Sanremo Grand Amore go 3x Platinum in Italy and contributed to their sold-out 2015 summer tour.
