Dani’s latest single ‘Pink Lightning’ is absolutely electrifying. ‘Pink Lightning’ is filled with dreamy synths, drum beats, and angelic harmonies that are both hypnotizing and surreal. The song starts out with a tight, poppy, synth line and drumbeat that combine with Dani’s vocals to create a dreamlike atmosphere. There is a subtle tension in the music and lyric that is faint at first but grows as the verse continues on. As the verse begins to transition into the chorus, tension is finally released as Dani’s vocals climb. The chorus breaks like a clap of thunder as the vocal line reaches its peak. Dani sings of someone having a power over her and the chorus begins to close. For a split-second everything drops out and then the second verse begins. This verse feels even more tense than the first. The vocals aren’t as relaxed as they were in the opening verse and the production has become more intense. Instead of an instantaneous resolve like the previous verse, the song goes into a brief instrumental breakdown. The resulting climax that happens as the final chorus comes in is powerful to say the least. Dani’s vocal is at its summit and so is the backing instrumental. ‘Pink Lightning’ ends with a cool down as the production and vocals slowly begin to strip back and fade away. All of these elements work together to create a beautiful and memorable song that is as much fun to listen to as it is to dance to.
