Beyoncé give an incredible performance at the 2017 Grammys

Showing off her baby bump, Beyoncé donned the stage in regal dress to give an amazing choreographed performance full of visual effects. Surrounded by backing dancers she gave live versions of ‘Love Drought’ and ‘Sandcastles’ from her album Lemonade which was up for Album of the Year.

During the first song, she leaned back on her chair and sang while hanging over the side. For the second she sat while holding her baby bump, surrounded by petals and backing dancers.

It came as no surprise that she received a standing ovation, including from husband Jay-Z who was in the audience with daughter Blue Ivy who was dressed as Prince.

Beyoncé won Best Urban Contemporary Album but lost out on Album of the Year to Adele. However, Adele went on to dedicate most of her speech to Beyoncé, saying “I can’t possibly accept this award. The Lemonade album was just so monumental, Beyoncé. It was so monumental and well thought-out and beautiful and soul-bearing… we appreciate that. All of us artists here adore you. You are our light.” and later while backstage “I thought it was her year. What the fuck does she have to do to win Album of the Year?“.

She went on to break her Grammy in half to give to Beyoncé in a move that many compared to the film Mean Girls.

Beyoncé’s sister Solange seemed to agree with the speech as she shared Frank Ocean’s Tumblr rant which discusses cultural bias within in the Grammys. This was initially sparked when Kendrick Lamar lost Album of the Year to Taylor Swift in 2016 but has now resurfaced with Adele’s win.

Adele was the night’s biggest winner with five Grammys. Chance the Rapper also won big with 3 Grammys. But it’s safe to say Beyoncé stole the show.
