Track of the day: Sampha – ‘(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano’

Sampha has pulled back the curtain on the official video for his new track ‘(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano’.

(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano’ is the third single to be revealed from his debut album Process, due for release 3 February via Young Turks. The video hosts a stripped back approach to Sampha’s sound and stars the elegant model and activist, Adwoa Aboah.

The SBTRKT affiliate and collaborator is presented in an empty studio armed with little but his powerful voice and a piano at his fingertips. The graceful Adwoa Aboah curiously approaches him and then dances delicately, engrossed in the echoingly aged sound. She spirals in sync with the music, reaching out, almost as if she can physically feel it. Gold dust washes over her. She swirls as if lost in a sandstorm, disintegrating with every step, exploring the sound. The symbiotic dust settles, but not for long, being displaced with each delicate move the ghostly Adwoa Aboah makes.

Directed by Jamie-James Medina, the video for ‘(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano‘ comes in partnership with Sampha‘s ‘creative and technological‘ partnership with YouTube. ‘(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano‘ is the perfect addition to Sampha‘s ‘Timmy’s Prayer‘ and ‘Blood On Me‘ – stay tuned for Sampha‘s 10 track debut LP.
