Recording Academy voting member and multi-platinum Italian multi-instrumentalist and producer Julyo have recently started to release a wide variety of videos on his official YouTube channel. A daily “Guess The Song” music video quickly in the form of YouTube shorts, has marked the beginning of what Julyo called “my journey in growing my unknown YouTube channel”.

YouTube Shorts are short-form videos on YouTube that are under 15 seconds in length and are intended for viewing on mobile devices. They are a new feature on YouTube that was introduced in September 2020 in response to the popularity of TikTok and other short-form video platforms. Julyo explains in a recent interview:

“YouTube Shorts can be used in a variety of ways to grow YouTube subscribers and increase engagement on the platform. Here are a few ways that creators can use YouTube Shorts to their advantage:

  1. Create catchy, attention-grabbing content: As with any content on YouTube, the key to success with Shorts is to create engaging, entertaining, and informative content that will capture the attention of viewers. This can be done through the use of catchy music, visually appealing graphics, and compelling storytelling.
  2. Use Shorts to highlight important moments: Shorts are a great way to showcase key moments or highlights from longer videos. This can be a useful way to draw viewers in and encourage them to watch the full video.
  3. Use Shorts to promote longer videos: Creators can use Shorts to promote their longer videos and drive traffic to their channel. This can be done through the use of hashtags and other promotional tactics.
  4. Collaborate with other creators: Collaborating with other creators is a great way to reach new audiences and grow your channel. By working with other creators, you can cross-promote each other’s content and reach a larger audience.
  5. Utilize YouTube’s features to promote Shorts: YouTube has a number of features that can be used to promote Shorts and increase engagement, such as the Shorts shelf, which is a dedicated section of the YouTube app for Shorts content. Creators can also use YouTube’s algorithms to their advantage by using relevant keywords and tags in their Shorts, which can help them rank higher in search results.”

Some of the recent Julyo shorts are gaining traction in the ’70s and 90 music lover’s communities.,

When asked about how a guitar player can take advantage of the new YouTube feature, Julyo replies with a few tips:

“Growing a YouTube channel as a guitar player can be challenging, but YouTube Shorts can be a useful tool for increasing engagement and attracting new subscribers. Here are a few ways that guitar players can use YouTube Shorts to their advantage:

  1. Create short, catchy guitar covers: One way to use Shorts effectively is to create short, catchy guitar covers of popular songs. These covers should be around 15 seconds in length and should be easy for viewers to sing along with. By creating catchy covers, guitar players can attract new viewers and encourage them to watch their longer videos.
  2. Use Shorts to showcase guitar skills: Shorts can also be used to showcase a guitar player’s skills and attract the attention of other musicians. By creating short, impressive guitar solos or other guitar-focused content, guitar players can demonstrate their skills and attract the attention of other musicians who may be interested in collaborating or sharing their content.
  3. Collaborate with other musicians: Collaborating with other musicians is a great way to reach new audiences and grow your channel. By working with other guitar players or musicians in different genres, guitar players can cross-promote each other’s content and reach a larger audience.
  4. Utilize YouTube’s features to promote Shorts: YouTube has a number of features that can be used to promote Shorts and increase engagement, such as the Shorts shelf, which is a dedicated section of the YouTube app for Shorts content. Guitar players can also use YouTube’s algorithms to their advantage by using relevant keywords and tags in their Shorts, which can help them rank higher in search results.
  5. Create instructional videos: Another way to use Shorts effectively is to create instructional videos for guitar players of all skill levels. These videos can be short and to-the-point, covering topics such as how to play a specific chord or how to practice a particular technique. By creating instructional videos, guitar players can attract a wider audience and establish themselves as an authority in the guitar community.”
