Barton Hartshorn announces new EP with playful single ‘The King Of My Undoing’

Growing up in a small English village of the same name, Barton Hartshorn developed his musical identity through local folk performers, becoming a musical storyteller in his own right. After fronting Dictafone for three albums, the artist branched out into a solo career, releasing multiple acclaimed albums, including ‘Not What I Expected To Hope For’ and ‘Manchester Sun’, and performing around the world under the new moniker, Barton Hartshorn and his band now gear up for a brand new, five-track EP.

Teasing the new project, the artist now releases ‘The King Of My Undoing’, a powerful journey of self-empowerment and self-doubt, balancing two sides of the same coin across rhythmic atmospheres and gentle melodies. Built on a folk-pop backdrop of piano, bass and acoustic guitar, the track is then laced with playful vocals and elegant melodies, bounding around the arrangement with an optimistic attitude and natural feel.

Barton shares, “That voice at the back of your head thinks he’s in control, thinks he’s wearing the crown. Let’s see what happens if we give him the microphone. Who knows…maybe he’s right, maybe we’ll learn something. Let’s roll tape on this one…give him his 15 minutes of fame, then maybe, just maybe he’ll shut the f**k up.”
