Daxsen Underground Records releases a new techno banger by Coke Beats, dedicated to Ukraine. “Mariupol – Day 2” is dedicated to the recent tragedy in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol. Mariupol is a city in southeastern Ukraine, situated on the north coast of the Sea of Azov at the mouth of the Kalmius river, in the Pryazovia region. It was the tenth-largest city in Ukraine as of 2021. In 2022, one bomb at a time, the Russians cut electricity, water, food supplies, and finally, the cell phone, radio, and television towers.
Underground rave DJ “Coke Beats” has recorded a two-part techno soundscape to capture the feelings of discomfort and tragedy portrayed in the videos and images that documented the Russian invasion of the Ukrainian city.
The hypnotic dark groove of “Mariupol – Day 2” pushes the track into the domain of productions from historical techno labels like Drumcode, Underground Resistance, Filth on Acid, and Terminal M.
At the same time, the almost elemental simplicity of the production makes the track an ideal DJ tool for any dark techno / post-industrial set, with references to the soundtracks of Run Lola Run and Trainspotting.
During the summer of 2021, Coke Beats embarked on a journey across northern Europe, performing in raves and local radio station studios across the UK, Denmark, and the Netherlands. The journey (documented in the short feature “Techno is a State of Mind“) has returned to more dark techno productions for the Italian producer and DJ. The sound of “Techno is a State of Mind” is continued and matured in “Mariupol – Day 2”, particularly the album concept introduced during the making of TIASOM is here reinforced by the use of “Day 2” in the track title.
“Mariupol – Day 1” is meant to be released in 2022 as part of a more significant release containing tracks part of a project to raise awareness around the situation in Ukraine with the aim of instrumental music.
Coke Beats is currently the resident DJ on AATM Radio and is due to perform as the opening act for a soon TBA event in the UK during mid-September.
