Ed Sheeran will appear on Game of Thrones, according to Variety.
During a panel, featuring producers and creators of the show David Benioff and D.B. Weiss as well as actresses Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, Benioff revealed that they had been trying for several years to get the ‘Shape of You‘ singer to make an appearance. Williams, who plays Arya Stark, is a big fan of Sheeran, and so they wanted to surprise her. Benioff said “For years, we tried to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie, and this year we finally did it“.
There have been no further details released about the character Sheeran will play or the storyline he will be involved in. However, HBO did confirm to Variety that he would appear in the series.
Sheeran has recently collaborated with Kurupt FM for Comic Relief, which will air on 24th March.
