James Marriott releases Bitter Tongues EP

James Marriott has been around a little while, but not always as a musician. His new EP Bitter Tongues along with his brilliant single Grapes, seems like a defining moment in James’ career.

Even though he began posting song covers on YouTube when he was starting out, he has since become known for his all round comedic, but very relatable, personality. He certainly has won over his fan base, albeit slightly unconventionally if you were speaking to anyone in the music industry from more than 10 years ago. Nowadays however, this is what people want. Content in all forms. For James, it has clearly only helped his creativity as he thrives with Grapes, uncompromising in its credibility as a standalone track, but nestled in nicely amongst the rest on the EP.

When you hear how many views he has on YouTube, you would be forgiven for assuming his motivation is not musical, but James remains true to the cause as he makes another indie banger in Grapes. Its bright guitar sound and groovy rhythm reminds you of an early Strokes album, and the lyrics are clearly from the soul as James sings about a relationship that just can’t quite find the right time or place in life.

He says on the track:

“Grapes is the culmination of my want to write about the dichotomy of love and timing. A fragile man and a strong woman are childhood loves, but neither of them have lived their lives and become adults yet.”

James is one of those nice guys you want to go far. He has a killer song to boot. Go listen!
