The former Eurovision superstars KEiiNO have tailed off their jam-packed year with a hopeful, and hugely uplifting new single ‘A New Beginning’.
The reflective song fittingly arrives as we approach the new year, all about letting the old go and starting something new. The song features fellow Norwegian and rising star Peder Elias, an unlikely collaboration but one that has surpassed even the band’s own expectations. It came out of a program arranged by Norwegian organisation PwC, who sought to pair an established artist with a less well-known name.
In an Instagram post the band said: “‘New Beginning’ is the result of teaming up with great people, a bright moment and a big chunk of luck. Lucky for us that PwC Norge decided to support the making of new song collaborations between Norwegian artists rather than buying gifts for their employees this year. Lucky for us, Simen from Sesong1 thought of us when suggesting which artists to invite. On their list of up-and coming artists we found this guy with an amazing voice: @pedereliaas. We’re so grateful that Peder was keen on working with us.”
This year saw KEiiNO release 7 new singles, receive 2 platinum certifications and get streamed over 28 million times on Spotify alone. This new single certainly ends their year with a bang. Opening with a glistening acoustic guitar supporting Alexandra and Peder’s vocals, the song builds thanks to a propulsive drum beat into a euphoric soundscape of airy synths and deep bass – filling us with motivation as we head into the new year.
